🍂 Autumn Tips for Happy Pets
Autumn Tips for Happy Pets
As the leaves turn golden and the evenings grow cosier, autumn brings a whole new set of joys (and challenges!) for our furry friends. Whether you’re a dog lover, cat owner, or caring for smaller pets, this season is the perfect time to make sure your companions stay safe, happy, and healthy.
1. Watch out for conkers and acorns
On crisp autumn walks, dogs love to sniff out everything — but conkers and acorns can be harmful if eaten. Keep an eye on curious pups when you’re out exploring.
2. Darker evenings = reflective gear
With the nights drawing in, make sure your pets are visible. Reflective leads, collars, and even cosy jackets are a great way to keep them safe on evening strolls.
3. Seasonal shedding
Cats and dogs often shed more as their coats change for the cooler months. Regular grooming helps reduce hairballs for cats and keeps dogs’ coats shiny and comfortable.
4. Cosy spaces at home
Just like us, pets love a warm spot when the temperature dips. Create a snug area with a blanket or bed away from draughts — they’ll thank you for it!
5. Seasonal treats (the safe kind!)
Pumpkin purée (plain, not spiced) is not only seasonal but can also be a healthy treat for dogs in moderation. Always check what’s pet-friendly before sharing.
Autumn is all about enjoying the little moments — a brisk dog walk through crunchy leaves, a cat curled up on the sofa, or just extra cuddles on a chilly night. With a few small precautions, your pets can enjoy this colourful season just as much as you do.
